Breaking the Stigma: Our "Nellie Ellie" Joins Forces with the Pumas at Radisson Blu St. Helen’s Hotel
The Elephant in the Room Movement continues to grow, reaching further into the world of international rugby. Our latest step? The Pumas, Argentina’s national rugby team, are proudly supporting our cause, helping to drive home the message that “it’s not weak to speak” about mental health.
During their recent stay at Radisson Blu St. Helen’s Hotel in Dublin, the Pumas took a moment to connect with our “Nellie Ellie” sculpture, symbolizing their commitment to mental health awareness. As Brent Pope, founder of the Elephant in the Room Movement, said, “Our Rugby 'Nellie Ellie' is making quite the hit in the world of international rugby. It just shows you that no matter how powerful you are physically, we all have to make our mental health a priority.” His words capture the essence of our mission—to show that strength is not just physical but also about being open, honest, and connected.
We are incredibly grateful to Coach Felipe Contepomi and the Pumas for embracing this message. Their support reminds us that mental health conversations transcend borders, cultures, and professions. Thanks to Radisson Blu St. Helen’s for their unwavering support in hosting this powerful moment, reinforcing the importance of breaking down stigma in every space, from sports fields to hotel lobbies.
The “Nellie Ellie” journey doesn’t stop here. As Brent hinted, we’re hopeful that more teams will join us, with eyes on the Aussies next. Each step, each conversation, and each new supporter strengthens our resolve to create a world where speaking up about mental health is seen as a sign of courage, not weakness.
Stay tuned for more updates as the Elephant in the Room Movement continues to grow, bringing our message of hope, resilience, and community to new audiences.
