Brent Pope Talks Schools, Support & Stigma on Ireland AM

This past weekend, Elephant in the Room was proud to be featured on Virgin Media’s Ireland AM, where our ambassador Brent Pope joined the conversation around mental health and the power of early intervention.

Seated on the vibrant Ireland AM couch, Brent spoke about the importance of reaching young people early—using visual reminders like our Ellie sculptures to open up conversations that might otherwise remain hidden. As Brent shared:

This will be a tangible representation for young people that somebody at your school cares about you, and somebody is there to support you.
— Brent Pope

It’s a powerful message—and one that lies at the heart of our Schools Programme, which officially launched this week in partnership with the Kyne Foundation. In 2025, this initiative will expand to 15 schools across Ireland, placing beautifully designed elephant sculptures in school communities to spark real conversations around mental wellbeing.

We believe mental health education doesn’t just belong in a classroom—it belongs in the corridors, on the pitches, and in the heart of school life. Our elephants help to create space for these everyday conversations and let students know they’re not alone.

📺 We’ll be sharing the full clip from Brent’s Ireland AM appearance shortly, so stay tuned!
In the meantime, you can find out more about the Schools Programme here.
